May 2008 Update

We updated May with some killer new graphics.. The May Tshirt of the Month, Stained Skull, is an intricate homage to the flipside of life and birth. Plus, check out some awesome new Artist Society tees by James Roper, Skinner and Si Scott. Lots of awesome stuff this month, so enjoy!

This one is just too close not to call out. Not that we are trying to make claims here, but our Armed design by Rika Shamada came out in the fall of 2005 and ever since created quite the stir.. mostly in the form of similar designs, placements, and uncomfortably close knock offs.. This one here, by Smoke & Mirrors, is just too damn close not to point the finger. Cheaters.

Fellow Travelers Show

There looks to be a wonderful upcoming show featuring some of Brooklyn's finest: Justin Fines, Dan Funderburgh, and Kevin Devine. You might remember the work that Dan Funderburgh did for Tank Theory with the High Noon, Kabuto, and Holy War tshirts. And keep an eye out for the work of Kevin Devine in the ranks of the Artist Society very soon.

Opening Reception. Opening Thursday May 8, 2008 from 7-10 pm.

Fellow Traveler is new work by three Brooklyn artists originally from the American midwest. Like many immigrants, they celebrate their shared origins, but are also interested in where their individual paths diverge. Fellow Travelers are not adherents to a school or aesthetic, they are sympathetic allies with a shared perspective that refuse to be limited or defined by geography.

Justin Fines, Dan Funderburgh, and Kevin Devine employ rubbing, serigraphy, and laser etching to create a trilateral conversation on poetry, conspiracy theories, ergonomics, and mortality.
